CEE100+ media workers killed in Ukraine since start of full-scale invasion
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 134 media workers have been killed, the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) repoorted.
"Today, on the Day of Defenders and Defender Women of Ukraine, we want to thank the media workers who joined the Ukrainian military and stood up to defend our country. Many of our colleagues will never return to their profession. According to IMI, 134 media workers have been killed since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Of these, 105 were media workers who joined the Defense Forces and were killed as combatants," the statement said. IMI recalled that another 15 were killed while carrying out their professional journalistic duties, while 14 were killed as civilian victims of Russian aggression. "We thank those who are serving in the Defense Forces today, protecting all of us and risking their own lives every day. The Ukrainian military includes journalists, camera operators, photographers, editors, producers and other media workers. Some joined the military as volunteers in the first days of the full-scale invasion. Others were mobilized more recently and are already serving on the front lines. But each and every one of them is doing something today on which our lives depend," the statement said. As Ukrinform previously reported, in February 2025, acting editor-in-chief of the Ukrinform multimedia agency Tetiana Kulyk was killed during a Russian drone attack on the Kyiv region. RELATED
