Russian strike hits Ukraine's Dovzhenko Film Studios
 15 Jun 2026
On the night of June 14-15, Russian forces struck the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studios in the city of Kyiv, damaging several buildings and destroying Ukraine's largest and oldest costume collection, pravda.com.ua reports.

Tetiana Berezhna, Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy of Ukraine, wrote on Facebook: "Russia attacked the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studios in Kyiv, one of Ukraine's oldest film studios. A fire broke out. The costume department was damaged as a result of the strike. Ukraine's largest and oldest costume collection was destroyed. The studio housed around 100,000 costumes and three million items of clothing and wardrobe materials. Other studio buildings and facilities were also damaged."

Berezhna added that rescue workers and emergency services are working at the scene.

"Russia continues to deliberately attack not only civilian infrastructure and peaceful residents, but also cultural institutions that preserve Ukrainian identity, memory and history. The destruction of cultural centers is an attempt to strike at the memory, history and distinct identity of the Ukrainian people," she stressed.
