CEEFilm about life in Ukrainian shelters wins a Webby Award
The VR documentary Shelter has won at the The Webby Awards 2026 in the category Apps, Software & Immersive – Science & Education. This was reported by the Ukrainian Film Academy on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
The film is a joint production of Ukraine, the Netherlands, and Belgium. It was shot in a 360° format, with filming taking place across Ukraine in 2024. “It is an intimate look at life in Ukraine during the war through the space of shelters – places where people hide from shelling, give birth, listen to music, prepare for battle, and say goodbye to loved ones. The film immerses the viewer in various scenes: from an underground maternity ward in Kyiv to a defender’s funeral in Lviv, from military training at the front to an opera performance in a basement in Kharkiv,” the Film Academy noted. The film is co-directed by Ivanna Khitsinska and Sjors Swierstra. The project’s producers include Justin Karten (Netherlands, Scopic Lab), Bram Krols (Belgium), and Ivanna Khitsinska (Ukraine, WAYA Production). RELATED
