CEERomanian Antena adapts a Spanish talkshow hit
Onza Distribution has confirmed a new international adaptation of the iconic Spanish talkshow format El Hormiguero (The Anthill), with Romania’s Antena TV Group acquiring the rights to produce a local version. The show, which has been a staple of Spanish primetime television since 2006 on Antena 3 and is hosted by Pablo Motos, is celebrated for its unique blend of celebrity interviews, comedy, science, and spectacular experiments.
This move strengthens El Hormiguero’s growing international footprint, joining existing adaptations in Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, and an upcoming version in Argentina through a streaming partnership with Olga. The format, produced by 7 y Acción and represented globally by Onza Distribution, has set a benchmark in Spanish television, accumulating 20 seasons and numerous prime-time successes, including El Desafío and El Camino a Casa. Isabella Carmu, Antena TV Group’s Director of Programming and Acquisitions, said: “Our vision is to offer content that sets the standard in the industry, and acquiring El Hormiguero allows us to bring a highly dynamic and relevant entertainment experience to Romanian audiences. This investment underlines our commitment to high-quality programming that leads the market.” RELATED
