![]() TV Nova reveals over a dozen projects for linear and streaming offer
Czech commercial broadcaster TV Nova is preparing dozens of new projects for broadcasting and the Oneplay streaming platform. It presented selected programs to journalists, and in addition to fiction, it is working on eleven documentaries and a large reality show.
"When we started the adventure called Voyo years ago, we set ourselves big goals – to create premium quality content with the best on the market for the largest possible number of viewers," said Content Development Director Michal Reitler. "Today, with the advent of Oneplay, we are speaking to an increasingly wider audience, but most importantly, we are constantly expanding the circle of exceptional creative personalities who – not only for Oneplay, but also for Nova's linear broadcast – come up with new bold projects," he added. Nova describes itself as the largest producer of original productions on the Czech market at the moment. If someone wanted to watch all episodes of all filmed projects, they would need 49 days of continuous viewing. 27 new projects are being created directly for Oneplay, and another 15 for Nova's broadcasts. Stories inspired by real events or personalities continue to be a pillar of original work. The six-part series Monyová will focus on the tragic fate of a successful Czech writer who was murdered by her husband. It will be followed by a documentary series with the working title Behind Closed Doors. However, it will not follow in the footsteps of a well-known case, but will reveal patterns of violent behavior that are repeated again and again in our society. Another biographical theme, RECORD(wo)MAN, recalls a forgotten sports scandal. In six parts, it returns to the story of Zdena Koubková, an athlete from the First Republic, who became Zdeněk Koubek. The creators of the series Most! are filming the ten-part Oddíl B (Section B) from a prison environment. "Section B is a repeated and lifelong challenge for me in how best to combine social commentary with comedy. It was a joy to renew my screenwriting collaboration with Petr Koleček," said Jan Prušinovský, screenwriter, director and creative producer of Oddíl B. The six-part series Štěstíčku naproti (Opposite Happiness) will deal with a well-known corruption scandal in the football world. The second series will be the drama Extractors. The script was inspired by four cases that were solved in reality by the Czech intelligence service. Journalist Jaroslav Kmenta again participated in the scripts. The miniseries Spřízněná duše (Soulmate) is inspired by real events and is the story of several women who stood up to the biggest Czech marriage fraudster. The series about a professional football club that longs to return to the limelight is called Slovan Liberec: Back to the Top. The reality shows Love Island Czech Republic & Slovakia 2025, The Bachelor Czech Republic II and the SuperStar (Idols) competition are also set to go into production. "In addition to new series of popular formats, we also plan to offer viewers the show Farma Czech Republic (The Farm), which has been a hit with Slovak viewers for several seasons. We are very happy with Extreme Transformations (Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition). We have started preparations for the next series of this project, which, without exaggeration, gives people a second chance at life," added Silvia Majeská, Program Director of TV Nova. Further series of The Extraordinary Cases of Marta (HPI) and Vysocina Badge are being prepared Bold business ideas will be presented to investors in The Lion's Den (Dragons' Den was broadcast by Czech Television years ago under the title Den D). A documentary series, Behind Closed Doors, is also in preparation, which will expand on the theme of domestic violence raised by the Monyová drama series. It will focus on the recurring patterns of toxic relationships in society through true stories. The goal is to break down the taboos and stereotypes that prevail in society regarding this topic.
