Montenegro officially announced that the country is returning to the Eurovision Song Contest. National broadcaster RTCG confirmed on its official website that they will return to the music event after a break of two years.

It has also been officially announced that Montenegro will hold a national final for the selection of performers for 2025 called Montesong 2024.

In its announcement, RTCG stated that their return to Eurovision "is due to the development and promotion of musical creativity in the country".

RTCG said that the national election will follow the voting system of Eurovision: 50% of the points will be awarded by an "expert jury composed of eminent music and media creators", and the remaining 50% by the audience.
